SOLIDWORKS EPDM Preview Tab Performance
If you’ve ever browsed into an EPDM folder you’ve likely seen the Preview Tab, just left of the Data Card tab. It’s helpful to be able to Preview/See the content of the files BEFORE you open them! In this article we’ll talk about the options for the Preview Tab that either make it MORE FUNCTIONAL, greater PERFORMANCE or how you can have it BOTH WAYS when previewing SOLIDWORKS Files.
First, we see an example EPDM Vault View showing the Data Card Tab when a file is selected:
Next, we see the contents of the Preview Tab set for PERFORMANCE:
This picture shows the Preview Pane set for PERFORMANCE in that is shows a BMP preview of the SOLIDWORKS file rather than the default and more functional eDrawings Preview.
Set your EPDM display to default to the faster PERFORMANCE BMP preview:
This will allow your Preview Tab to display faster without the eDrawings preview.
You can still get to the eDrawings Preview simply by clicking on the graphics image:
Setting for MORE FUNCTIONAL will get you the extra eDrawings Professional controls :
Below is the MORE FUNCTIONAL Full UI of eDrawings Professional in the Preview Tab:
Finally settings to have it BOTH WAYS for PERFORMANCE and MORE FUNCTION:
With these two settings turned on you’ll get the benefits of performance by having the Preview Tab default to the BMP image, retaining the eDrawings function simply by clicking on the graphics, but having the more functionality of the full eDrawings Professional user interface.
Enjoy!
