PolyJet 3D Printing with New Vivid Colors
PolyJet 3D printing has long been a favorite of additive manufacturers and 3D printing hobbyists. The ability to produce smooth and accurate parts with varying strength, colors, and flexibility has made PolyJet materials a popular choice when creating diverse parts and multi-colored prototypes, and Stratasys continues to expand PolyJet’s capabilities with a growing product line that includes 3D printers and innovative materials like Agilus30. The company’s newest release, the Stratasys J750, is a 3D printer with exciting implications for consumer goods and a new range of color capabilities, including two new Vivid Colors materials. Here’s what you need to know.
Stratasys J750: Enhanced Color Realism
One of the major distinctions of the Stratasys J750 3D printer is its ability to deliver enhanced levels of color realism with endless combinations of color, transparency, and flexibility. According to Stratasys, the J750 offers over 500,000 colors, including CMYKW and transparent (similar to that of a 2D printer). It also has a color picker that “more accurately converts GrabCAD color input into a 3D printed color output,” giving designers a better idea of what their end product will look like before they print. The J750 has advanced texture mapping and perfect boundary separation for a cleaner, more realistic look.
New Vivid Colors: VeroMagentaV and VeroYellowV
In addition to the J750 printer, Stratasys has also released two new Vivid Colors materials: VeroMagentaV and VeroYellowV. VeroMagentaV and VeroYellowV provide a true red, yellow and orange range and are available for order today:
- – OBJ-03044 – RGD852, VeroMagentaV, 3.6kg
- – OBJ-03045 – RGD838,VeroYellowV, 3.6kg
VeroMagentaV and VeroYellowV will not replace the existing VeroMagenta and VeroYellow; however, the new Vivid Colors provide translucent colors and superior color accuracy.
Applications of PolyJet 3D Printing and Vivid Colors
As we’ve mentioned before, the J750 3D printer is well-suited to consumer goods applications due to its versatility and product realism. The ability to work with six base materials and enhanced color gamut yields high-quality parts at a much faster speed, giving users a competitive edge when it comes to rapid prototyping. The new printer features and colors can reduce prototyping to a single step, creating everything from cosmetics containers to branding and packaging at a 5x cost-savings.
Similarly, the J750 and new Vivid Colors can be helpful in automotive applications, where the available textures and 3D printing materials can create a range of detailed and realistic surfaces. Leather textures and wood grain for cabin interiors, as well as transparent lighting covers, can all be made in a single-prototyping step for up to a 10x cost-savings over traditional methods.
