SOLIDWORKS 2015 What’s New – Model Break Views #SW2015
SOLIDWORKS 2015 has a new tool called Model Break Views. This tool addition is found only in SOLIDWORKS MBD and will be available in Q1 2015.
Model Break Views tool allows the user to add multiple breaks to models in Parts and Assemblies. The Model Break Views are saved as configurations. This tool is very helpful when you need to shorten components especially for technical and marketing purposes. Additionally, the Model Break View tool lets you display breaks on drawing views per ASME Y14.3.
Let's check it out!
With a part file open, go to Insert > Model Break View. (The command is also found in the NEW SOLIDWORKS MBD Command Manager Tab)
The Model Break View Property manager will activate and give you different options for how you want to create your break. In the graphics area, notice the plane picked for the alignment along. Notice the highlighted red and green planes with handles. These planes and handles allow users to drag the start and stop of the break.
Once the planes are placed, under the Model Break Steps, click Apply. A break will appear where you place the break lines.
In the Property Manager, under the Model Break Steps, click ADD STEP. In the graphic area, use the handles to move the red and green planes to create another break.
In the Property Manager tab, click the STYLES tab to create the style of break.
For this example, ZIG ZAG was chosen.
Don't forget the new Model Break View is also available in SOLIDWORKS 2015 assemblies!
